Jen Peacher

Coach

Over her 22 years in education, Jen Peacher has guided learners from age 8 to age 90, throughout the United States and overseas. She has taught third and fourth grade, middle school English, high school English, Arizona and United States Constitution for a local community college, and English with the University of Massachusetts, Boston. While the variety of topics and age groups could appear disconnected, there is one unifying factor among them: Jen’s passionate desire to connect with learners and help them gain the knowledge and skills they need.

Jen received a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University and an M.A. in English Linguistics from Purdue University. Outside of her own classroom, Jen has developed and run school readiness programs designed to enable students to master the studentship skills necessary for success in the classroom. Jen also worked as a teacher trainer and mentor, helping new teachers unlock student potential through thoughtful student support.

When working with students, Jen’s first priority is to create an environment of courageous trying and collaboration. She loves to see a student’s eyes light up with the “Aha!” which shows that hard work has merged with understanding. With consistent support, Jen believes that these moments can become a series of little successes that allow students to gain the skills and confidence they need to become strong, independent learners who are able to guide their own educational experience.

What does “structure creates freedom” mean to you?

Structure creates freedom means that if you have all of the necessary supports in place, you have the opportunity to be creative and take advantage of opportunities as they arise.

What’s a small win you love seeing students experience?

I love seeing clients reclaim time that they had been spending trying to figure out what to do next. The first night a client is finished with their to-do list, and they still have time to do whatever brings them joy, that's my win.

How would you describe your coaching style in three words?

Curious, supportive, adaptive.

What was your favorite class in school?

English!

Who is one person you admire?

I admire anyone who gives more back to the world than they take out.

What’s your reset ritual after a long week?

An hour-long strength training session and then breakfast at Snooze.

If you could unplug anywhere for a week, where would it be?

Sirince, Turkey.
