Sandra Martindell
Coach
Sandra was raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and currently resides there with her husband and their high school- and college-aged children. She holds a BA in English from Rider University and an MA in Elementary Education from Chestnut Hill College.
Sandra has been an educator for over 20 years, teaching in kindergarten, and third and fifth grades. In 2015, Sandra received the New Jersey Governor's Teacher of the Year Award at her K-5 elementary school. She is trained in Orton-Gillingham, serves as the Schoolwide Literacy Program Teacher Leader for her school, and has been a Cooperating Teacher to undergraduate student teachers. As a participant in her district's High School Teacher Cadet Program, Sandra works with and encourages high school students to grow interpersonal and leadership skills to those who have expressed interest in teaching as a career.
Sandra believes that it is her job to foster a child’s interests and abilities, and she firmly believes that school is not only a place for learning new academic skills but also for exploring our world and developing a sense of “whole self.” She creates a safe and supportive environment, allowing students to enjoy the learning process without the fear of mistakes, and to build confidence as a student and person, in order to become the best advocate for themselves.

What does “structure creates freedom” mean to you?
Freedoms of stress and anxiety that is often felt when organization and structure are not a part of daily life.
What’s a small win you love seeing students experience?
The connection I am able to make with them over a FT or Zoom experience! How I know their personalities so well and we can laugh together one minute and the next they can't wait to tell me how successful they were with their list the night before or their study habits helped them score an A on a test or assignment:). Makes my heart happy!!
How would you describe your coaching style in three words?
Engaging, Personal and ENERGETIC:)))) They often can't wait to tell me things just to see my reactions LOL.
What was your favorite class in school?
READING!!! Still is as a teacher:) Love to teach reading!
Who is one person you admire?
Ok so there are two - I admire my son and my daughter and their perseverance and determination to become such kind hearted and successful human beings:).
What’s your reset ritual after a long week?
Time with my fam:) Buttt alsoooooo eating out hahaha (chips/salsa and margaritas and maybe reruns of shows or shopping (buttttt hubby does not like this ritual hahaha).
If you could unplug anywhere for a week, where would it be?
Walt Disney World!!!!
